Flashcard Wizard 0.95 Bug Report This Report Last Modified: 15/8/00 Date: 3/8/00 (Fixed for 1.0 - 3/8/0) Problem: A problem which I wasn't sure existed but has plagued me for a very long time is that after a certain amount of time entries will always come up in interval study even if they have been studied the same day. Severity: 4 - basically makes Interval Study useless after 12th ttf stage Notes: This annoying problem has finally been confirmed, the offending code discovered, and fixed for the 1.0 release. Basically the program didn't know how to handle entries which had a ttf stage larger than 12. Since ttf schedules (for now) only go up to 12, I have programmed them to treat >12 staged entries as stage 12 entries. Date: 29/7/00 Problem: "Out of Memory" error upon opening the application. Increasing memory allocation doesn't help. Severity: 5 - will prevent use of the application unless backup application is used. Notes: This serious problem was kindly reported by an anonymous user. I have never seen this error and am unable to reproduce it. If you experience this error please write to bugs@foolsworkshop.com with your own experience. Date: 29/7/00 Problem: Occasional difficulty entering Chinese characters in Flashcard Wizard. Severity: 1 - annoying. Nothes: This problem, reported by an anonymous user is, I believe, related to the larger problem of the Mac not switching to Chinese/Japanese/Korean input mode when the focus is on a field with a font using those inputs. I'm afraid for the time being there is little I can do to help this problem and all I can suggest is manually choosing Chinese input from the keyboard menu and pressing the "Refresh Fonts" button. Date: 16/6/00 (Fixed for 1.0 - 28/6/00) Problem: Problems occur after sorting the list of user files in the user file window. Severity: 4 - will prevent use of the user file until resolved Notes: This is a problem created by the fact that the sort function still uses "," as the delimiter. Since all files are now tab delimited, Flashcard Wizard gets confused. This has been fixed for the next version. To fix corrupt user files, replace all commas with tabs in the first 10 lines. Date: 16/6/00 (Fixed for 1.0 - 28/6/00) Problem: Interval Study gets error message when encountering corrupt files Severity: 3 - very annoying Notes: This occurs because of a spelling error in the code for interval study at this point. The error has been fixed. To avoid this problem, either fix the file it stops on, or remove it from the list. Date: 14/6/00 (Fixed for 1.0 - 29/6/00) Problem: Edit Entry Window doesn't close when set is closed. Severity: 1 - annoying Notes: If the Edit Entry is open and the set is closed, the edit entry window does not close with it. Date: 11/6/00 (Fixed for 1.0 - 11/6/00) Problem: Flashcard Window size changes Severity: 3 - very annoying Notes: Sometimes changing the size of the Flashcard Window does not work. Date: 31/5/00 (Fixed for 1.0 - 3/8/00) Problem: The "Remove Duplicates" feature is not reliable. It reports strange numbers and may delete words which are not in fact duplicates. Severity: 4 - can delete words that shouldn't be deleted Notes: There is obviously something seriously wrong with the search and replace algorithms used. I will be using new methods for various searches in the next version of Flashcard Wizard. There is also now the option of saving a log of removed entries when removing them from multiple files. Date: 21/5/00 (Fixed for 1.0 - 20/7/00) Problem: The User Stats don't take into account whether sets are included in interval study or not. Severity: 3 - very annoying Notes: This prevents the user from seeing accurately how many entries need to be reviewed at each day. Date: 19/5/00 Problem: Fonts don't get displayed correctly when doing flashcard study immediately after an import. Severity: 1 - annoying Notes: This can be worked around by selecting "Set Properties" then "OK" after importing a set and before doing flashcard study. I haven't found the source of this bug yet as I am unable to reproduce the problem in isolation. If you experience this problem please send info to bugs@foolsworkshop.com Date: 19/5/00 (Fixed for 1.0 - 3/8/00) Problem: Occasionally there are "doublets" during Interval Study. Some entries get asked twice. Severity: 3 - very annoying Notes: I cannot seem to track down this problem. I believe the Set Filter might be responsible but haven't located the problem yet... Date: 19/5/00 (Fixed for 1.0 - 15/8/00) Problem: Marked entries don't get saved during interval study Severity: 3 - very annoying Notes: This will be revamped for the next release. There is no workaround for this one. Marked entries don't get saved if you are doing flashcard interval study. Date: 15/5/00 (Fixed for 1.0 - 11/8/00) Problem: Fonts and font sizes don't change properly for User Lists Severity: 4 - effects display of entry information Notes: Instead of redesigning the set properties function, I have made some modifications that I believe has eradicated font changing problems. If anyone still gets this error please send info to bugs@foolsworkshop.com Date: 15/5/00 (Fixed for 1.0 - 22/6/00) Problem: Spelling Errors in the GRE Words Sample List Severity: 1 - annoying Notes: This will be fixed for the next release.
